2013 QMJHL Draft Watch: Gauthier, Bell
TSR Features | 24 Apr 2013RW Julien Gauthier / Laval-Montreal Rousseau
With the 2013 QMJHL draft only weeks away look for Julien Gauthier to be in demand as one of the top draft eligible forwards. Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing in at 213 pounds, Gauthier is the top power forward in the draft. Finishing the season with 12 goals and 20 assists in 42 games Gauthier played on a deep Laval team that went on to win the midget AAA league and compete in the Telus Cup representing Quebec. Gauthier drives to the net hard and with his size is very difficult to knock off the puck.
D Jason Bell / Laval-Montreal Rousseau
At the beginning of the season I had David Henley ranked ahead of Bell but after comparing the two, I have no doubts that Bell is going to be something special. Like Gauthier, he’s on a deep team and finds minutes harder to come by as a result of the team’s depth. As the season came to an end, Bellwas getting more minutes and PP time over some of his teammates who were already drafted in the QMJHL. His shot from the point and vision make him a true 1st-round pick heading into this summer and at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, Bell is ready for the next step. Those teams who don’t get Jeremy Roy (Les Gaulois) will certainly not pass up the chance to scoop up Bell.
